That was a close one. Virgin Galactic turned down an offer to have a porn movie shot in one of its spaceships.

To escape from the current crisis, there’s no limit to creativity. Even if this implies shooting for the stars. Literally. Any mean allowing to skyrocket sales are positive. Even the craziest ones, like actually shooting a movie in space.

Reach the seventh heaven

Virgin Galactic President Will Whitehorn, in charge of space tourism, revealed he was approached recently by a porn baron. According to him, the financial offer was very attractive. Since the commercial value of each of the spaceship’s six seats is estimated to be around $200,000, the budget of this film would have easily been among the highest all time. The current record is held by Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge with a budget of about $10 million.

Porn’s fascination for space is nothing new. Back in 1995, Kris Kramski was already thinking of having a film shot in space with SexHibition. This latest project will not come to fruition though. “We were approached by someone who turned out to be a porn-film maker who wanted to hire the whole ship,” explained Will Whitehorn before adding “I had to turn him down”. Too bad. That might have been the safest bet to approach the seventh heaven.
