Attendance at the Venus show in Berlin was lower than the preceding year for the second consecutive edition.

Times change and even sex is having a hard time bringing masses together. Well, all things being relative. For the second consecutive edition, attendance at the Venus show in Berlin has been decreasing. Organizers have revealed that the total number of exhibitors this year was 330, while 25,000 consumers and 4,500 trade visitors attended the event.

AVN aims for a smaller venue

These figures are 10% lower than last year’s. Always interested in such an event, the media was well represented with over 700 journalists covering the show, even though that is also a lower figure compared to 2008.

Despite this decrease in attendance, these numbers are quite a nice performance for such an event considering today’s difficult economic conditions. To fully notice how hard the industry has been it, all one needs to do is look on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean where even the AVN Awards, the biggest award show in the industry, have opted for a downsize. The next edition will take place on January 9th, 2010 in the intimate Pearl Theater (2,500 seats) in the Palms Casino, far from the ostentation characterizing the Mandalay Bay Events Center’s and its 12,000 seats. In this context, the Hot d’Or’s success, last Tuesday, is even more appreciable.
